U.S. Nonprofit Sector Resists Government Pressure Amidst Authoritarian Tactics
The U.S. nonprofit sector is facing significant challenges as the government, under President Trump's administration, imposes restrictions and cuts funding to organizations that support democratic values and social causes. Nonprofits like Oxfam and Save the Children have been particularly affected by the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development. The administration has also altered rules affecting student loan forgiveness for nonprofit employees and threatened legal action against advocacy work. Despite these pressures, many nonprofits are uniting to protect their operations and continue their missions.
