Iran Launches Drone and Missile Attacks on UAE Amidst Tensions Over Strait of Hormuz
Iran has launched a series of drone and missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE), targeting key oil facilities for the second consecutive day. The attacks are focused on the Habshan-Fujairah oil pipeline, a critical alternative route for oil transport outside the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE's Ministry of Defense reported that air defense systems are actively responding to the threats, urging civilians to seek shelter. This escalation follows the UAE's recent exit from OPEC, where it was a significant oil producer. The attacks have raised concerns about the stability of oil supply routes in the region, as the pipeline is a major conduit for crude oil, averaging 1.62 million barrels per day. The UAE, a close ally of the US and Israel, has condemned the attacks as a dangerous escalation and reserved the right to respond.
