Animal Rights Activists Clash with Police at Wisconsin Beagle Facility
On April 18, 2026, approximately 1,000 animal rights activists attempted to storm Ridglan Farms, a beagle breeding and research facility in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. The activists were met with resistance from law enforcement, who used tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. The protest was organized by the Coalition to Save the Ridglan Dogs, which had previously announced plans to seize the dogs on a later date but acted a day earlier. The protest followed a previous incident in March where activists successfully removed 30 beagles from the facility. Despite the activists' efforts, no dogs were removed during the April protest, and several individuals, including the group's leader, Wayne Hsiung, were arrested. Ridglan Farms, which houses approximately 2,000 beagles, has been under scrutiny for alleged animal mistreatment, although it denies any wrongdoing.
