Waco Hosts National Coffee with a Cop Day, Fostering Community-Law Enforcement Engagement
Waco, Texas, recently hosted National Coffee with a Cop Day, an event designed to foster open dialogue and build trust between law enforcement and the community. The informal gathering took place at Black Rifle Coffee Company, where local, state, and federal officers, including representatives from the Waco Police Department, McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Texas Rangers, Baylor University DPS, the Lorena Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service, interacted with Central Texas residents. A highlight of the event was the presence of the Texas DPS Mounted Patrol unit, featuring Clydesdale police horses Karen and Caliber, alongside a department helicopter and a Waco Police SWAT vehicle. Officers also assisted behind the counter and at the drive-thru, providing a unique opportunity for positive engagement outside of crisis situations.
