AI Analysis of Reddit Posts Reveals Underreported GLP-1 Drug Side Effects
Researchers at Penn have used AI to analyze over 400,000 Reddit posts, identifying patient-reported symptoms associated with GLP-1 drugs, such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, that may not be fully captured in clinical trials. The study, published in Nature Health, highlights reproductive symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles and temperature-related complaints such as chills and hot flashes. The findings suggest that social media can provide valuable insights into patient experiences and potential side effects that are not always evident in traditional clinical research.
