Jackie and Shadow's Eagle Chicks Named by Third Graders in Big Bear Valley
The eaglets of the famous bald eagle pair, Jackie and Shadow, residing in Big Bear Valley, California, have been named Sandy and Luna. The names were chosen through a public contest organized by the Friends of Big Bear Valley, with the final selection made by third-grade students. The naming contest received over 3,000 submissions, and the names were selected randomly before being voted on by the students. The eaglets, previously referred to as Chick 1 and Chick 2, hatched in early April and have been observed via an eagle cam set up by the nonprofit organization.
