Escaped Border Patrol Suspect Captured, Search Continues for Second Man Near Hammond
In Ponchatoula, Louisiana, one of two suspects who escaped from U.S. Border Patrol agents has been captured. The suspect, Eduin Gonzalez Avilez from Honduras, was apprehended after attempting to enter an occupied home. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with other agencies, is still searching for the second suspect, Elvin Martinez. The incident began when Border Patrol agents stopped a vehicle on I-12, leading to the escape of two handcuffed men. The search involved multiple law enforcement agencies and K-9 units. The community was alerted as the search continued, with residents advised to report any sightings of the remaining suspect.
