Justice Department Investigates Reid Hoffman's Non-Profit in Connection with E Jean Carroll Case
The U.S. Department of Justice is conducting an investigation into a non-profit organization backed by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. This inquiry is part of a broader investigation related to E Jean Carroll, who previously won significant defamation awards against President Trump. Although Carroll is not the direct subject of the investigation, the focus is on the financial support her lawsuit received from Hoffman's non-profit, American Future Republic. The investigation, led by Andrew Boutros, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, is examining potential money-laundering conspiracy and obstruction. The Department of Justice has not commented on the investigation, and neither Carroll's legal team nor Hoffman has provided statements. This development follows previous legal actions where Carroll was awarded damages against Trump for defamation and sexual assault allegations, which Trump has denied.
