Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-35 in Olathe

A 43-year-old man, identified as Adam Christopher Townsend of Kansas City, Kansas, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Monday morning on Interstate 35 in Olathe, Kansas. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on northbound I-35, just north of 159th Street. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Townsend was driving a 2019 Dodge Challenger when it veered off the right side of the roadway for reasons that are currently unknown. The vehicle subsequently struck a Kansas Department of Transportation signpost before colliding with a pillar supporting the Lone Elm Road Bridge. Townsend, who was the sole occupant of the Challenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The crash led to the closure of northbound I-35 in Olathe, causing significant traffic disruptions.
