Canada Invites Applications for AI Supercomputing Infrastructure
The Canadian government has opened applications for its AI Sovereign Compute Infrastructure Program, a key component of the Canadian Sovereign AI Compute Strategy. This initiative aims to establish large-scale, Canadian-owned supercomputing capacity to support research and innovation across various sectors. The program is backed by investments from the 2024 and 2025 federal budgets and seeks to mobilize private sector investment, build public supercomputing infrastructure, and establish an AI Compute Access Fund. The infrastructure is expected to drive breakthroughs in healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, and scientific discovery.
