Horse Rescued from Flooded Creek in Marengo After Overnight Storms
A horse was successfully rescued from a flooded creek in Marengo, Illinois, after being stranded due to heavy rainfall. The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts responded to an animal water rescue call on Saturday morning, following overnight storms that caused Coon Creek to overflow. The horse was found approximately 600 feet from the nearest shore, standing on a small peninsula surrounded by fast-moving water. Rescue teams, including firefighters, sheriff's deputies, and a veterinarian, worked together to reach the horse using an inflatable rescue boat. The horse was suffering from hypothermia due to prolonged exposure to cold water. After receiving initial veterinary care, the horse was guided to safety using a wide rubber rope and transported for further treatment.
