Romanian Land Forces Consider Upgrading LAROM Rocket Launchers to Enhance Capabilities
The Romanian Land Forces are evaluating potential upgrades to their LAROM Multiple Rocket Launchers (MRLs) to improve their operational capabilities. The LAROM 160, a product of a collaboration between IMI and Aerostar in the 1990s, is currently capable of striking armored targets up to 45 kilometers away, firing 26 rockets every 45 seconds. The proposed upgrade, showcased by Aerostar SA and Elbit Systems at the Black Sea Defense Aerospace exhibition, aims to enable the launchers to support medium and long-range guided rockets. This would include the integration of Elbit's Mobile Fire Control System (MFCS) and the ability to carry additional rockets, enhancing the system's versatility and firepower.
