Connecticut DEEP Extends Alcohol Ban at 10 State Recreational Areas Through November
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has announced an extension of its temporary alcohol ban at 10 state recreational areas through November 15. The ban, initially set to expire on August 17, will be re-issued from August 18. This measure was first implemented on May 20 due to increased crowding and alcohol consumption, which DEEP stated contributed to misconduct, unruly behavior, property damage, trespassing, and complaints from visitors and surrounding communities. The affected areas include various state parks, forests, and boat launches across Connecticut, such as Gardner Lake State Park, Paugusset State Forest, Wadsworth Falls State Park, and specific sections of Rocky Neck State Park. Acting DEEP Commissioner Emma Cimino emphasized that the ban aims to maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
