Massachusetts Woman Gives Birth in Ambulance Without Prior Knowledge of Pregnancy
Alysha MacDougall, a 33-year-old woman from Massachusetts, unexpectedly gave birth to her son, Julian, in an ambulance during a blizzard on January 26, 2026. MacDougall was unaware of her pregnancy due to negative pregnancy tests and a medical condition known as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), which can lead to cryptic pregnancies. Julian was born prematurely at 22 to 23 weeks gestation and spent 154 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Despite the challenges, Julian was discharged on June 29, 2026, and is now home with his parents.
