UNESCO Receives 87 Nominations for Memory of the World Regional Register in Latin America and Caribbean
UNESCO's Memory of the World Regional Register for Latin America and the Caribbean (MoWLAC) has received 87 nominations for its 2026 call. These nominations come from 23 participating countries across the region, showcasing a wide array of documentary heritage. Notable contributions include 10 nominations from Argentina (plus one joint nomination with Brazil and Colombia), 18 from Brazil, 11 from Colombia (plus one joint nomination with Argentina), and 9 from Bolivia. Other countries like Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela also submitted multiple nominations, alongside single nominations from Belize, Dominica, El Salvador, and others. These nominations represent diverse historical and cultural records that are considered of outstanding value to the region. The evaluation of these submissions is scheduled to take place during the XXVI Annual Meeting of MoWLAC, which is expected to convene around November 2026.
