Wawa Employees Restrain Suspect After Stabbing Incident in Hockessin, Delaware
Employees at a Wawa convenience store in Hockessin, Delaware, successfully restrained a knife-wielding man after he allegedly stabbed a worker. The incident occurred early Sunday morning at the Wawa on Yorklyn Road. According to Delaware State Police, 36-year-old Matthew Ralston entered the store, made a purchase, and then lingered in the parking lot before re-entering multiple times. Ralston then went behind the counter, pulled a knife, and threatened an employee. As the employee attempted to call 9-1-1, Ralston cut her hand. Other Wawa employees intervened, disarmed Ralston, and held him until state troopers arrived. The injured employee was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Ralston has been charged with three counts of possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault, attempted second-degree assault, and aggravated menacing.
