Congressional Hispanic Caucus Introduces Health Equity and Accountability Act
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus, led by Senator Alex Padilla and Representative Raul Ruiz, has introduced the Health Equity and Accountability Act (HEAA) of 2026. This legislation aims to address health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities, women, the LGBTQ+ community, rural populations, and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups in the U.S. The bill seeks to expand access to culturally competent healthcare, strengthen the healthcare workforce, and remove barriers to coverage. It builds on previous healthcare reforms and includes measures to improve data collection, expand telehealth access, and address social determinants of health.
