NHTSA Warns of Safety Risks in Older Ford Vehicles Due to Engine Issues
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has upgraded its investigation into 135,551 Ford vehicles from model years 2014 to 2021, citing an 'unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.' The affected models, including the Fiesta, Focus, and EcoSport, have been discontinued by Ford. The investigation focuses on issues with the timing belt, which may degrade and cause engine oil pressure to drop, leading to potential engine failure. The NHTSA has reported 355 incidents related to this defect, which can occur without sufficient warning.
