Illinois Park Executive Accused of Misusing Public Funds for Personal Event
Quintina Brown, the head of the Markham Park District in Illinois, is facing allegations of misusing a taxpayer-funded credit card to pay for a helicopter rental for her daughter's prom photoshoot. The helicopter, which cost $800, was arranged to land at Roesner Park for the photoshoot. The invoice for the helicopter listed 'Markham Parks' as the customer and included Brown's signature. City attorney Kelly Krauchun reported that the deposit was charged to a park district credit card. Brown, however, denies any misuse of public funds, claiming she used her personal credit card for the transaction. The incident has sparked controversy, with Markham Mayor Roger Agpawa criticizing the lack of oversight and safety precautions during the helicopter landing.
