Texas Young Lawyers Association Launches Program to Support First-Generation Aspiring Lawyers
The Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) has initiated the Texas Future Lawyers Alliance (TFLA) 2026-2027 Cohort program. This year-long initiative aims to support up to twenty aspiring first-generation lawyers by providing mentorship, practical legal training, networking opportunities, and application assistance. The program is designed to address the unique challenges faced by students who lack inherited professional guidance in navigating law school admissions and early career planning. Participants will engage in weekly virtual pre-law classes covering appellate advocacy, trial advocacy, criminal law, family law, and public interest law. Additionally, the selected students will attend TYLA’s National Trial Competition in San Antonio, TX, from April 2-4, 2027, with all travel, housing, and meals covered.
