Douglas County Faces Multiple Fires Due to Lightning, Evacuations and Firefighting Efforts Underway
Douglas County officials have reported two significant fires, the Double Fire and the Ruby Fire, both ignited by lightning. The Double Fire, located south of Leviathan Mine Road off U.S. 395, has reached approximately 100 acres with good containment. The Ruby Fire, situated off Pinenut 2 Road, spans about 200 acres in a remote area. No structures have been lost, and no evacuations are currently in effect for these fires. However, the Bug Fire near Cold Springs has grown to 6,528 acres, prompting evacuation orders. Firefighting efforts are ongoing, with multiple agencies, including the Carson City Fire Department, involved in managing the situation.
