Truman Scholarship Foundation Announces 2026 Cohort of Scholars
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation has announced the 2026 cohort of Truman Scholars, a prestigious group of 55 students selected from 48 U.S. colleges and universities. The announcement was made by Janet Napolitano, former Arizona Governor and Secretary of Homeland Security, who serves as the foundation's president. The Truman Scholarship, established in 1975 as a memorial to President Harry S. Truman, is awarded to college juniors who demonstrate academic success, leadership accomplishments, and a commitment to public service. This year, 781 candidates were nominated by 305 colleges and universities, with 198 students selected as finalists. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 for graduate studies in public service fields, along with leadership training, career counseling, and internship opportunities.
