Rising Sea Levels Threaten Iconic Global Destinations by 2100
According to a report by The Jerusalem Post, climate change is projected to cause a significant rise in global sea levels, potentially between 32 and 84 cm by the year 2100. This increase poses a severe threat to some of the world's most famous vacation spots, including the Maldives, Venice, and the Bahamas. These areas are at risk of severe flooding and, in some cases, complete submersion. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change highlights that low-lying island nations could face existential threats, with tens of thousands of residents potentially displaced. The report also notes that extreme weather events, such as heavy rains, have already caused significant damage in some regions, affecting both the local population and key economic sectors like tourism.
