Macon County Health Department Delays Diabetes Program to June for Better Community Participation
The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) in Decatur, Illinois, has postponed the start of its Diabetes Self-Management Program by two weeks. Originally scheduled to begin on a Thursday, the program will now start on June 4, 2026, and run through July 9, 2026. The delay is intended to provide additional time for community members to register. The program aims to educate participants on effective communication with healthcare professionals, symptom management, confidence building, healthy eating, and blood sugar monitoring. The sessions will be held weekly on Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the MCHD. The classes are free and open to anyone affected by diabetes, and interested individuals can register by contacting the Starting Point at MCHD.
