Ukraine's Fire Point Collaborates with Europe on Freyja Missile Defense Initiative
Ukrainian defense company Fire Point is collaborating with European partners on the Freyja missile defense initiative, aiming to develop a cost-effective system capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. The project, launched in Paris, involves 10 European governments and 12 defense companies, including Eurosam, Leonardo, Thales, and Saab. Fire Point is contributing its FP7.X interceptor missile, while European partners provide radar, guidance systems, and command-and-control capabilities. The initiative seeks to create a lower-cost alternative to the US-made Patriot system, with the first successful interception targeted for mid-2027.
