Bellefonte Waterfront Project Commences Site Work After Years of Delays
After years of planning and numerous delays, site work has officially begun for the Bellefonte Waterfront project in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Fencing has been erected around the empty lot on West High and Dunlop streets, signaling the start of construction. This multi-faceted development will feature a six-story boutique hotel with a restaurant in one building, and a separate building housing a parking garage, retail spaces, and residential condominiums. The project, initially proposed in 2018 by developer Tom Songer of Bellefonte Waterfront Associates and hotel partner Mark Morath, faced setbacks including the COVID-19 pandemic and a surge in construction costs. Bellefonte Borough confirmed this milestone, stating that it follows the finalization of the Developer’s Agreement, which paved the way for construction to proceed.
