Twin Falls Man Dies During Police Response in Ontario, Oregon; Investigation Underway
A Twin Falls man, identified as 46-year-old Mark Alan Olson, died during a police response in Ontario, Oregon, on Saturday night. Ontario Police officers responded to a report at 8:04 p.m. of a man threatening to use a gun near a bowling alley. Upon arrival, the situation escalated, and officers deployed less-lethal methods, including a pepper ball and a taser. The Malheur County District Attorney's press release stated that Olson began to experience medical issues, and despite paramedics' life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:47 p.m. No firearms were used by officers during the incident, and investigators did not find a gun after searching Olson or the vehicle involved. The Malheur County Major Crimes team has activated an investigation, led by Oregon State Police with assistance from the Malheur County Sheriff. The four officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.
