Over 1,500 Pounds of Imported Pork Recalled Due to Listeria Contamination Risk
More than 1,500 pounds of imported ready-to-eat pork products, specifically dry-cured pork jowl also known as guanciale, have been recalled due to concerns about potential Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced this Class I recall, which is the most serious classification, indicating a reasonable probability of severe adverse health consequences or death from consumption. Two U.S.-based companies, Florida-based Prime Line Distributors, Inc. and New Jersey-based Ferrarini USA, Inc., are involved in recalling a total of approximately 1,513 pounds of these products. The affected items, produced in Italy on May 21 and imported in July, include specific 'best if used by' dates and lot numbers.
