Heavy Rain and Flooding Risks for Boston Area Tuesday and Wednesday
The WBZ-TV weather team has issued a NEXT Weather Alert for the Boston area, forecasting stormy conditions starting Tuesday and intensifying Wednesday. Heavy rain and localized flooding are the primary concerns, with the first wave of rain expected to impact western New England and New York on Tuesday. Flood Watches are already in effect for these areas and may extend eastward. Scattered downpours and storms are likely Tuesday afternoon in interior regions such as Worcester County and southern New Hampshire, while Boston and areas southward may experience drier conditions initially. By Wednesday, heavy rain will move eastward, bringing significant downpours to the Boston area. Rainfall rates could lead to street flooding, with some areas potentially receiving over two inches of rain in a short period.
