Congressman Frank J. Mrvan has formally requested a federal investigation into the prolonged power outages experienced by Northwest Indiana residents after severe storms on August 11. Many residents were left without electricity for up to two weeks. Mrvan emphasized the community's resilience and cooperation during the recovery efforts, noting how local residents, businesses, and elected officials supported each other. In response to the widespread disruption, a 'one-stop' disaster recovery center was established in LaPorte, operating from September 23-25 and September 28-October 2, to assist affected individuals.
