North Carolina High School Valedictorian's Speech Causes Controversy Over Ye Reference
A valedictorian speech at Hoggard High School in North Carolina sparked controversy when senior Kyler Hosek referenced a statement made by the rapper Ye during a 2022 interview with Infowars founder Alex Jones. Hosek's speech, which was approved by the school, included a quote from Ye, stating, 'Every human being has something of value that they bring to the table.' This reference drew attention due to its association with Ye's controversial comments about Adolf Hitler during the same interview. A fellow student, Sara Rudeseal, attempted to criticize Hosek's speech by highlighting the full context of Ye's original statement, which led to her being escorted off the stage by the principal. Despite the backlash, Hosek's family maintained that the speech was intended to convey a positive outlook on the future of artificial intelligence.
