Indiana Department of Natural Resources Recovers Stolen Trackchairs, Investigation Ongoing
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has successfully recovered two all-terrain trackchairs that were stolen from Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. These trackchairs, valued at approximately $25,000 each, are designed to assist disabled individuals in accessing public lands at no cost. The theft occurred between April 30 and May 1, during which six agency buildings were forcibly entered and vandalized. In addition to the trackchairs, two Vietnam War-era helmets were also stolen and remain missing. The DNR had acquired 45 trackchairs and portable generators for each state park and inn through grant funding, with deliveries completed in March. The investigation into the theft is still active, and a $5,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of the trackchairs and the arrest of those responsible.
