Warren Petersen Leads GOP Primary for Arizona Attorney General, Setting Stage for November Election
Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen is leading in the Republican primary for the position of Arizona attorney general. With 68% of the votes counted, Petersen holds 55.9% of the vote against his opponent, Rodney Glassman, who has 44.1%. The primary race has been marked by intense personal attacks and debates over legal credentials. Petersen, who has been criticized for his limited legal experience, argues that the role of attorney general is more about leadership and policy management than litigation. He has promised to work closely with federal immigration authorities and to rescind lawsuits filed against the Trump administration by the current attorney general, Kris Mayes. Petersen's campaign has been heavily targeted by outside spending, with approximately $4 million directed against him. Despite this, he has declared an early victory, framing the result as a triumph over big-money opposition.
