Sacramento Community Holds Vigil for Nepal Flood Victims, Congressman Kiley Attends
Dozens of Sacramento community members gathered on the California Capitol steps for a candlelight vigil in solidarity with Nepal, following devastating floods that resulted in over 1,300 deaths and more than 5,000 missing individuals. The event, coordinated by Krishna Giri, president of the Nepali Language School, aimed to disseminate a message of peace and hope. Congressman Kevin Kiley attended the vigil, noting the profound impact on the strong and growing Nepali community in the Sacramento area, many of whom have loved ones and family members affected by the disaster. He mentioned that one of his constituents has a brother who is still missing. The community, joined by people of various backgrounds, expressed their grief and hope as the search for the missing approaches its third week.
