Nor’easter Threatens U.S. Northeast With Flooding
A powerful Nor’easter is developing off the U.S. Northeast coast, bringing significant weather risks to the region. Coastal flood advisories and warnings are in effect from Newark, New Jersey, to Virginia Beach, and extend up the Potomac River toward Washington, D.C. Meteorologist Rob Carolan of Hometown Forecast Services predicts the storm will intensify, spreading advisories further north to New York, Long Island, and New England. Eastern Massachusetts could see up to 5 inches of rain starting Friday and continuing through the weekend. The storm is expected to churn up waves as high as 30 feet (9 meters), posing risks to coastal areas. Winds are forecast to gust up to 32 mph (51 km/h) in New York City Friday night, with even stronger gusts in Boston over the weekend. These conditions may disrupt travel and power services.
