Complete Health Agrees to $14 Million Settlement Over Medicare Advantage Fraud Allegations
Complete Health Partners Holdings, based in Jacksonville, Florida, has agreed to pay $14.1 million to settle allegations of submitting false diagnosis codes to increase payments from the Medicare Advantage program. The Department of Justice claims the company encouraged the addition of diagnosis codes for conditions like drug and alcohol dependence and major depressive disorders, which were not clinically valid or supported by medical records. This practice allegedly inflated risk scores and resulted in higher payments from Medicare, benefiting Complete Health financially.
