St. Petersburg Plans to Replace Pier Marketplace Tents with Permanent Kiosks
The city of St. Petersburg is considering a significant change to its Pier Marketplace by replacing vendor tents with permanent kiosks over the next several years. Currently, the marketplace features seven kiosks and 21 tents. The proposed plan involves replacing three tents annually with kiosks, a process expected to span seven years. Aquia Holmes, a vendor at the marketplace, expressed that a kiosk would simplify daily operations and provide better security for merchandise. Jennifer Schultz, another vendor, supports the transition to kiosks for a more professional appearance but raised concerns about the current kiosk design, citing issues like leaks during rain. The city has stated that each kiosk is expected to last 20 years.
