IOM Warns Sudan Aid Corridor Faces Imminent Funding Shortfall, Threatening Operations
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has issued a warning that the joint humanitarian corridor in Sudan is on the verge of running out of supplies within two weeks, with operations potentially halting entirely by the end of the year without additional funding. IOM spokesperson Zoe Brennan stated that the lack of adequate shelter for 8.6 million displaced individuals, compounded by ongoing conflict, heavy rains, and flooding, is escalating risks of disease, gender-based violence, family separation, and further displacement in overcrowded areas. The IOM requires $15 million to maintain the corridor at minimum operational capacity for 12 months, which would support 305,000 people.
