Justice Department Says Pam Bondi Exempt from Testifying on Epstein Files After Dismissal
Pam Bondi, the former Attorney General, is no longer required to testify about her handling of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a letter from the Justice Department to Congress. Assistant Attorney General Patrick Davis informed Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, that Bondi is not bound by the subpoena since her dismissal by President Trump on April 2. The subpoena was initially issued following a bipartisan vote in early March. The Justice Department expressed its willingness to cooperate with the committee voluntarily, suggesting that further compulsory measures are unnecessary. This development has caused frustration among lawmakers who are seeking transparency regarding the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democrat from California, insists that the subpoena remains valid and has threatened to hold Bondi in contempt of Congress if she fails to comply.
