Ancient Roman Shipwreck Discovered Off Sicily's Coast
Divers have discovered an ancient Roman shipwreck off the coast of Sicily, believed to be over 2,000 years old. The shipwreck, located approximately three nautical miles from Mazaro del Vallo, was found at a depth of 46 meters. The site contains hundreds of amphorae, likely used for transporting wine, and is considered a significant underwater archaeological find. Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli has hailed the discovery as one of the most important in recent years, highlighting its value in understanding ancient Mediterranean trade routes.
