Delta Air Lines Investigates Suspected In-Flight Wi-Fi Interference by DEF CON Attendee

The incident occurred after the DEF CON cybersecurity conference, with flight crew messages indicating suspicion towards a passenger who created a fake Wi-Fi network named 'Delta WiFi Fast'. The crew reported the issue to corporate security, suspecting a phishing attempt. Delta confirmed the incident, stating that no aircraft systems were affected and that the safety of the plane, crew, and passengers was never in question. The airline is conducting a full investigation in collaboration with federal law enforcement and aviation regulators.
