Louisiana Man Attacked by Alligator During Police Chase, Highlighting Risks of Impaired Driving
A man identified as Victor Rivas, 40, was involved in a dramatic police chase in Louisiana, which included an unexpected encounter with an alligator. The incident began when state police received reports of reckless driving on Interstate 10 in Jefferson Parish. Rivas, driving a Toyota Supra, struck a concrete barrier, leading to a tire blowout. Despite this, he continued driving into St. Charles Parish, where police attempted to stop him. Showing signs of impairment, Rivas fled on foot, jumping from an elevated section of Interstate 310 into a swamp. During his escape, he was attacked by an alligator, sustaining injuries to his arms. Despite the attack, Rivas continued to evade capture until he was eventually apprehended with the aid of drone technology. He was treated for his injuries and subsequently booked into jail on multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
