Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Awards John H. McConnell Scholarship to High School Senior
Sophia Lopez-Ramirez, a senior at Cedarville High School in Ohio, has been awarded the John H. McConnell Scholarship by the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation. This scholarship, established in 2008, honors the legacy of the team's late founder and is awarded to a Central Ohio student who exemplifies character, leadership, and community involvement. Lopez-Ramirez's achievements include being a three-time qualifier for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, creating a community spelling bee, and participating in various school and community initiatives. Her dedication to excellence and community service has been recognized with this $10,000 scholarship, which she plans to use for her education at the University of Chicago.
