Mississippi Public Service Commission Emphasizes Workforce and Safety Initiatives in April
The Mississippi Public Service Commission has highlighted its efforts in workforce development, infrastructure safety, and community engagement in its April newsletter. A significant focus was on promoting Safe Digging Month, encouraging residents to call before starting excavation projects to prevent damage to underground utilities. Mississippi 811 staff were recognized for their role in protecting critical infrastructure. The commission also hosted an Energy Workforce and Education Summit, aimed at closing skills gaps and aligning training programs with the energy sector's needs. Additionally, April was recognized as Lineman Appreciation Month, acknowledging the vital work of utility crews, especially during severe weather events. Commissioners across the state participated in various community meetings and events to support these initiatives.
