Gary Council Demands NIPSCO Accountability Amid Rising Utility Bills
The Gary Common Council has unanimously approved a resolution demanding accountability and transparency from the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) regarding high electricity and gas bills. Residents have expressed concerns over the pricing structure, particularly the gas delivery charges, which are reportedly higher than the cost of the gas service itself. The resolution, authored by Council Vice President Darren Washington, calls for NIPSCO to provide a detailed explanation of the delivery charge increases and infrastructure projects justifying these costs. The council also requests a public hearing for residents to question NIPSCO leadership and encourages participation in Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission proceedings.
