Sherpa Guide Found Alive After Missing for a Week on Mount Everest
A Sherpa guide named Dawa Sherpa, who went missing while descending Mount Everest, has been found alive. Dawa, 52, was discovered crawling towards the base camp by a cleaning crew. His survival is being hailed as a miracle by the mountaineering community in Nepal. Dawa was last seen on May 29, descending the mountain, but did not reach the base camp, although his client did. The search for him was delayed, and helicopters initially failed to locate him. He was eventually found near the Khumbu Icefall and was quickly taken to safety, receiving food and water before being flown to a hospital in Kathmandu. His family, who had begun funeral rituals, were overjoyed at his survival.
