Brush Fire Threatens Homes in Douglas County, NV
A brush fire erupted Sunday afternoon near Spring Valley Drive and US-395 in Douglas County, Nevada, south of Gardnerville. The fire, reported at approximately 3:30 p.m., initially covered 1 to 1.5 acres and produced a large plume of smoke. It jumped US-395, prompting closures in both directions. Firefighters from Carson City Fire Department, Central Lyon Fire, and Truckee Meadows Fire responded to the scene, with mutual aid requested. As of 6:05 p.m., forward progress of the fire has been stopped, and the spot fire is controlled, according to Incident Command. While there is a light potential threat to several structures, no evacuation orders or warnings are currently in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
