Ukraine Continues to Fortify Border with Belarus Amid Ongoing Tensions
Ukraine is reinforcing its border with Belarus, more than four years after Russia's initial invasion from Belarusian territory. The border, once a bustling crossing, is now heavily fortified with anti-drone netting, razor wire, and concrete anti-tank barriers known as 'dragon's teeth.' This development follows Ukraine's demand for Belarus to dismantle Russian communication relay stations used to extend drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. Although Belarus complied, tensions remain high, prompting Ukraine to maintain a strong defensive posture. Ukrainian officials report no current signs of Russian troop buildup in Belarus, but the border's fortification continues as a precautionary measure. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has stated that Belarusian troops will not engage in the conflict unless provoked, yet the potential for increased involvement remains a concern for local residents.
