Minnesota DNR Maintains Three-Walleye Limit for Mille Lacs Lake Fishing Season
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced that anglers at Mille Lacs Lake will be allowed to keep three walleyes per day during the open water season starting May 9. The regulation, which includes size restrictions, will remain in effect until November 30. Harvested walleyes must be at least 17 inches, with only one fish over 20 inches allowed. This decision follows a slight decline in the adult walleye population, with the state's share of the harvest set at 105,300 pounds, down from 113,600 pounds in 2025. The Ojibwe Tribes, who hold treaty fishing rights, are allocated 79,700 pounds. The DNR may adjust regulations mid-season to prevent exceeding the harvest limit.
