Arizona Corporation Commission Candidate Ralph Heap Faces Campaign Finance Complaints
Ralph Heap, a candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission, is facing multiple campaign finance complaints. The Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission has received allegations that Heap failed to disclose the funding sources for thousands of voter signatures collected to qualify for the primary election ballot. The complaints suggest that a significant portion of these signatures were gathered by individuals linked to the paid petition industry, raising questions about undisclosed financial transactions. Heap's campaign finance reports indicate he raised $19,136 and paid $6,880 for signature-gathering efforts, but the Arizona Public Integrity Alliance claims this amount is insufficient to cover the actual costs. Heap's attorney, Timothy La Sota, has denied the allegations, arguing that the complaints stem from a misunderstanding of campaign finance operations. The Clean Elections Commission is investigating the matter, which could lead to fines or Heap's removal from the ballot.
